Seven district schools named 'Michigan Green Schools' for 2023

Congratulations to the seven district schools that were named ‘Michigan Green Schools’ for 2023. Glengary, Hickory Woods and Keith elementary schools as well as Walled Lake Northern High School were designated “Evergreen Schools". Sarah G. Banks Middle School, Oakley Park Elementary and Pleasant Lake Elementary were designated “Green Schools".

A school is eligible to receive a Green School, Emerald School, or Evergreen School Environmental Stewardship Designation if the school or students perform the required number of activities, with a minimum of two activities from each of the three categories: Reduce/Reuse/Recycle/Energy, Environmental Protection and Miscellaneous Activities. Evergreen is the highest ranking followed by Emerald then Green.
